Tigers vs A's in ALCS -- Game 2

Well it was an odd day in baseball alst night with the tragic death of Yankees pitcher Lidle. Mets/Cards game was rained out and the ALCS would be the only game going this evening. What a good one it was.

Verlander came out sloppy in my opinion and quicky gave up a run. In true Tigers fashion that run was made up in the next at bat. By the 3rd inning it had looked as if Verlander was finding his stuff and his breaking ball was starting to work real nicely but nothing seemed to be able to stop Milton Bradley last night has he jacked one out of the park to make it 3-1. It felt like it was going to be a battle all game long. The A's needed this win and for the most part played like they knew it. But again the next time the Tigers get to bat they make it 4-3. You gotta love and respect the reliencey of this team. They extended the lead to 7-4 and by the bottom of the ninth it was 8-5. Jones was our closer and started off getting the first guy out. Then it all fell apart. 2 outs, bases loaded, and the Big Hurt at the plate. I was pacing like you could not believe. But Jones got Thomas to pop one up and we took a 2-0 lead going back to Detroit for games 3,4 and 5.

It was another hard fought game and Leeland quieted some critics. With the injury to Sean Casey he moved our SS Guillen to 1st base and put Perez in the lineup and then took out Thames from the DH and put in rookie Alexi Gomez in his spot. When all this was found out many people in the area were up in arms. Perez has shown us nothing in terms of hitting since we got him from the Cubs. Gomez is a rookie who had about 100 at bats all season. But in true Leeland style Gomez ended up with 1 HR and 4 RBI's for the night. Perez didn't do much but his sacrfice bunt helped get us tied at 1-1 early on in the game. Other than that he was non-existant. We will see what happens Friday.

Go Tigers!
